We all look forward to the sequel's sequel. Very nicely written, with vivid, enjoyably eccentric characters. Also great as a shared family "read." Our daughter followed up by taking it to bed and on the school bus to read again and again.
"Pen" (as he is affectionately called around the neighborhood) that he needs to think about dating again (since the children's mother died soon after "Batty" was born). This story finds the Penderwick clan back home (from holiday) and in school and enjoying life. Until their beloved Aunt Claire comes to visit and tries to convince Mr. Lovely. Both hilarity AND despair ensue, making this one of the better reads for me this year.Highly enjoyable. The story is cute, but not saccharine. I so enjoy these kids. There are morals and consequences, but they don't beat you over the head with it and there is lots of love--familial love--which, I believe, everyone years for.
Pen was dating Iantha, but we were surprised when it turned out that he was thinking about a character in a book. But what about Jeffrey and Skye/Jane. This first half of this book was a little slow, but the second half was very exciting. But all is well that end's well. We are looking forward to the next Penderwicks book. We liked all the parts of the plot, Jane and Skye's trick, the Bugman, and the kids taking the battery. We thought that Mr.
The specter of a strange woman in their lives (and home) drives the girls to develop a Save Daddy Plan. The pacing of this sequel is stronger than the original, and all four girls' perspectives are represented in Birdsall's third-person narration. The Penderwick sisters are back, but this time readers get to see them on their home turf. Meanwhile, there's school trouble, boy trouble, and neighbor trouble for the four girls. A sweet, slightly old-fashioned family adventure and a great pick for fans of Beverly Cleary's Beezus and Ramona. The relative calm of their cozy home on Gardam Street is thrown into uproar by the idea that their widowed father should start dating. Their beloved Aunt brings a letter from their late mother reminding their father that she doesn't want him to be lonely.
I mean come on, it just get's annoying after awhile. What is her problem. I expect the little girl, Batty, to act that way but not the older three girls. My friend made me read this book. It's written very well and is a good story, you should read it for yourself, but personally I prefer books about tough people who suck it up and take charge of the situation.Read it and decide for yourself. They are over the top emotional about eeeeverything. I liked some parts but over all the girls we pretty annoying. Rosalind always ignores this kid and then when he starts ignoring her back she get's angry.
